Best Pen Recommendations – What Do You Use?

I never thought buying a pen would turn into such a deep rabbit hole, but here I am. I’ve been trying to find a really good everyday pen for a while now, and the more I research, the more confused I get. It feels like something so simple shouldn’t be this complicated, yet somehow it is.

I use pens daily—for work notes, journaling, quick to-do lists, and sometimes long writing sessions. I’m not a collector or anything fancy, but I do care about how a pen feels in the hand and how it writes over time. I just want something reliable that doesn’t cramp my fingers or start skipping after a few days.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve gone through blog posts, Reddit threads, YouTube reviews, and way too many Amazon reviews. Every time I think I’ve found “the one,” I scroll a bit more and suddenly someone says it’s overrated or not worth the price. That’s how I ended up narrowing things down to two pens that keep showing up again and again with mostly positive feedback.

The first one is a more premium option:
Pen A – Scriveiner Luxury Pen
https://www.amazon.com/Luxury-Pen-Scriveiner-London-Professional/

This pen gets mentioned a lot in discussions about smooth writing and comfort. What caught my attention is how many people talk about using it for long writing sessions without fatigue. A lot of reviews say the ink flow is consistent and doesn’t smudge easily, which is important for me since I tend to rest my hand on the paper while writing.

Another thing people keep mentioning is the weight. It’s apparently well-balanced—not too heavy, not too light—which makes it comfortable for extended use. Some users even say it feels more “intentional” when writing, like it slows you down just enough to enjoy the process. I don’t know if that’s just hype, but it sounds appealing.

That said, it’s clearly positioned as a luxury pen. While it’s not insanely expensive, it’s still more than what most people would normally spend on a pen. Part of me wonders if I’d actually notice the difference day to day, or if I’d just be paying for the look and branding.

The second option is more practical and budget-friendly:
Pen B – Ddaowanx Gel Pens, 0.5mm Quick Dry Black Ink (6 pcs)

This one surprised me because it shows up constantly in note-taking and productivity discussions. People who take a lot of notes—students, planners, office workers—seem to really like these. The biggest praise I keep seeing is about the ink flow. Apparently, it’s very smooth, quick-drying, and doesn’t bleed through paper easily.

I also like the idea of getting six pens instead of just one. If I lose one or it runs out of ink, it doesn’t feel like a big deal. The 0.5mm tip seems to be a sweet spot for clean, precise writing, especially for smaller handwriting or detailed notes.

Design-wise, it’s obviously more basic compared to the luxury pen, but many users say it still looks professional enough for meetings or work environments. It seems like a pen you don’t think about much—you just pick it up and write, which honestly has its own appeal.

Where I’m stuck is deciding what actually makes more sense for real life use. On one hand, the Scriveiner pen feels like an investment. Something I’d keep on my desk, use intentionally, and maybe enjoy more while writing. On the other hand, the gel pens feel more practical and flexible, especially for everyday tasks and note-taking.

I’ve also noticed that some people say luxury pens really shine if you write a lot by hand, like journaling or drafting ideas on paper. Meanwhile, gel pens seem to win when it comes to speed, convenience, and low maintenance.

So now I’m torn. Do I go for one really nice pen that feels special, or do I choose something more simple and more reliable that I won’t worry about losing or damaging?

That’s why I wanted to ask here instead of relying only on reviews. Specs and ratings are helpful, but real experiences matter more. If you’ve used either of these pens (or both), I’d really like to hear your thoughts. Did the premium pen actually feel worth it over time? Or did the gel pens end up being the better everyday choice?

Any honest feedback would be appreciated. I’m hoping to finally make a decision and stop overthinking something as basic as a pen.
